Description

Myasthenia gravis is a neuromuscular disorder characterized by muscle weakness and fatigue. It occurs when the antibodies block the junction between the nerve and skeletal muscles, which are responsible for voluntary body movements.

Typical Age of onset

20-80 years

Symptoms

  • Weakness in the arm, hands, fingers, neck

  • Drooping of one or both eyelids.

  • Double vision

  • Impaired speech

  • Difficulty in swallowing

  • Difficulty in chewing

  • Change in facial expression

  • Shortness of breath
